A life long resident of Gloucester, Joe grew up in a family bustling with trade’s people (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, plasterers, etc). He was able to absorb all aspects of the construction process by being on-site and seeing first-hand how buildings are assembled.

Joe graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1991 with a Bachelor's degree in architecture. After gaining valuable design & construction management experience in the offices of Benjamin Nutter Associates & Carpenter & MacNeille, Inc, Joe obtained his license in 2001 to practice Architecture.

What separates Joe from other architects in the area is his ability to meld his practical construction know-how with his architectural design expertise. Clients are kept well informed with how real world budgets and the logistics of the construction sequence come to bear on their project. Joe has established relationships with some of the North Shore’s best builders & craftsmen. Those relationships paired with good communication are the key to a successful building project.

Sara Castle delRio, Architect, collaborates with Joe on many projects. Sara has been practicing architecture for over 30 years.   Sara's areas of expertise are design and master planning for residential and commercial projects. Sara’s career began as an architect and urban planner for architectural firms in Boston, MA. From there, she moved into residential design and has continue to bring her design skill to challenging projects. Sara earned her master’s degree in architecture from Washington University, St. Louis, MO.
